Adopt-A-Room

Lima’s Samaritan House serves over 350 women and children annually. We are a 38 room facility with 17 bedrooms (36 beds) and 7 bathrooms. Residents may choose to stay only a night or two, but many will spend several weeks or even a couple of months with us, resulting in each of our rooms being heavily used. You can only imagine the wear and tear that can happen with so many people coming through our doors.

While our facility currently meets the needs of our residents, many of the rooms do not have a warm and inviting feel to them. We would like to provide a place where our residents can feel at home and gain refreshment as they approach a new stage in their lives. This is where we could use your help. We are looking for individuals, groups, and organizations to partner with us to help restore dignity and hope to the women and children who stay with us, by assisting in the refreshing and redecorating of our resident’s rooms. We have learned through experience that by providing nicer facilities the residents are more likely to take pride and care for their surroundings.

Each of our rooms are in need of a fresh coat of paint, woodwork rejuvenated, new artwork and décor items, and most of all a personal touch. Some of our rooms need more attention than others, including repairing or replacing doors, dressers and plaster repair. We have rooms to fit many budgets and abilities. If you would like to help, but would rather not take on a whole room, please contact us and we will find a way to partner together. Discount and thrift store finds are welcomed if they are tasteful and sturdy. Not all rooms need all items suggested below and could be refurbished with budgets as low as approximately $150.
